The other guy is the STAR.
You hired him, so of course it's all about him.
He'll perform a special trick for your child,
if the kid behaves.
And he has a really expensive tuxedo…
kids really know it's time for fun
when they see an adult in formal wear.
Or if the other guy is a clown, then his costume and makeup are really elaborate
("STOP CRYING, KID!")
and he looks just like a real circus clown
("CAN'T SOMEONE SHUT THAT KID UP?")

02The other guy gives you WHAT HE CAN for your money!

You're not rich, and this guy was the cheapest —
IT'S A PERFECT MATCH!
He'll do as much as he feels like doing in return for your lump of coal.
Don't ask him to tell you exactly what he'll deliver for your money. "That would take away all the surprise."
(That means "trust me and hand over your money.")

03The other guy's show is A GOOD START!

Unless you want a bunch of wild kids running around, you'd better plan on a piñata, and "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," and maybe some other games or crafts … be sure you have enough to keep them busy after the other guy is gone.
His show will keep them quiet for a while, but as soon as they have to wait as he makes a balloon for each of 20 kids, YOU'RE ON!

04The other guy CAN HANDLE THESE LITTLE BRATS and keep them quiet!

He has read every strategy in the magic books for "handling bad behavior"
and "dealing with kids who act up."
Don't worry; he won't let them get away with anything!

Call him for any reason and you'll reach an answering machine…
remember, this isn't his "real job"!
Or maybe you'll talk to one of his kids, or his wife or his girl friend
And he'll get back to you in a day or two.
No, really!

10The other guy REALLY LIKES MAGIC!

Your kids should learn to appreciate really skilled sleight of hand. It's an art. So is the art of clowning.
VERY SERIOUS STUFF!
The kids will probably be glad to sit quietly watching him pull another card out of his sleeve for an hour!
He still remembers the magician he saw at age 5 and how he tried to copy that magician's cool trick with the FIRE!
He does the same cool trick for your party…
it's safe enough, nothing will go wrong (probably).
Then Your child will remember the cool trick with the fire, too!
Maybe he'll even try to imitate it later.
